The Rwandan Genocide occurred between April 7 and July 15, 1994 during the Rwandan Civil War. During this 100-day period, an estimated 500,000 to a million Rwandans were killed, as UN peacekeepers stood by.
On April 6, 1994, Paul Kagame, now the current president of Rwanda, reportedly ordered the shooting down of Rwanda’s presidential plane, killing two presidents and everyone onboard. That was the opening act in the genocide. Kagame and his Rwandan Patriotic Front regime had military and financial support from the US, the UK, and the EU.
Rwandan Genocide survivor and human rights activist Claude Gatebuke recalls the horror and deadly massacre in Kigali 30 years ago, while fleeing for his life alongside his mother. And what do we know about the current genocide that’s unfolding in the Congo, reportedly perpetrated by Rwanda and Uganda with the full support of the US, EU, Canada, and Israel? We hear from Claude Gatebuke speaking to Block Report Radio host JR Valrey
