As one of his last acts in office, outgoing President Joe Biden commuted Indigenous leader Leonard Peltier’s life sentences to home confinement after nearly 50 years in prison. The decision follows decades of calls for clemency, citing concerns over due process, arbitrary detention, and Peltier’s health.
Despite pleas from supporters, the White House refused to issue a full pardon.

Lenny Foster is also with the International Indian Treaty Council, and both are long time friends of Leonard Peltier.
