The Board of the National Education Association recently subverted union democracy by refusing to implement a rank and file decision to drop the Anti-Defamation League from its classrooms.
Marcy Winograd, coordinator of CODEPINK’s Drop the ADL campaign, spoke with union organizer Merrie Najimy about the leadership’s betrayal of the base, as well as the power of the rank and file to unmask the ADL.

Next we’ll hear the second half of an interview with Los Angeles defense attorney Mark Kleiman by Pacifica’s Thomas O’Rourke. They discussed the civil liberties of US college students, migrant workers, and their families, who are all targets of government repression by multiple federal agencies including the US military.
A correction of Part 1 of the interview aired last week. It was Texas vs. Johnson 1989 where the Supreme Court agreed that flag burning was a constitutionally protected act of symbolic speech and thus speech protected by the 1st Amendment.
