November 28 kicked off a 12-day, 103-mile march from Philadelphia to the front door of State Correctional Institute Mahanoy where journalist, former MOVE and Black Panther member Mumia Abu-Jamal has languished for 44 years. Supporters gathered at Uncle Bobbie’s Coffee and Books to begin the walk to the prison in Frackville. Abu-Jamal, now in declining health, has been held there since 2012 after his death row conviction was overturned and replaced with life imprisonment. Rally-goers will continue marching until Dec. 9, then hold a rally outside the prison. Education organizer Ant Smith spoke at the ‘Unite to Free Mumia” rally before they set off.

On November 28  rallies were held at the International Longshoremens’ Association and the International Longshoremen and Warehouse Workers Union International to urge them and their members to follow the lead of Italian unions who had a general strike on Nov 28 against the genocide in Gaza. The rallies called for these unions and their rank and file to refuse to load cargo bound for Israel while the occupation of Palestine continues. In San Francisco one of the speakers was Dr. Frank Romano who had been one of the organizers of the flotillas to Gaza.

Next, Thomas O’Rourke filed this report on the mass culling of a flock of ostriches at British Columbia’s Universal Ostrich farm on 6 November 2025. The Canadian Mounties executed a mass cull order from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency after a lengthy legal process ended abruptly when the Supreme Court of Canada refused to hear the case. The cull order issued in December 2024 cited anonymous claims of avian influenza which the owners disputed to the very end on legal and scientific grounds.
