Yves Engler is a Canadian activist and the author of many books about Canadian foreign policy, including Canada and Africa, 300 Years of Aid and Exploitation. In February he was arrested for social media posts about Gaza genocide and in July he announced his candidacy to lead the New Democratic Party. Now B’nai Brith is accusing him of denying the genocide in Rwanda. He spoke to Pacifica’s Ann Garrison.

Donald Trump’s 50% tariff on 40% of Brazil’s exports to the U.S. has sparked rising anger and anti-imperialist backlash across Brazil. Last Friday, unions nationwide rallied outside U.S. embassies in protest. Pacifica’s Steve Zeltzer spoke with Fabio Bosco, a Brazilian transit worker and member of the independent labor federation Conlutas, about the working-class resistance to Trump’s trade war as well as the US president’s demand that charges be dropped against Brazilian far-right ex-president Jair Bolsonaro for his role in the 2022 coup attempt.
