The massive introduction of AI technology in the workplace is unregulated and threatens the lives and health and safety of millions of working people and the public. Montana Teamster and UPS line driver Eric Johnson began to question why he and other drivers were being subjected to infrared cameras in their cabs for up to 60 hours a week. He began to investigate and found that UPS and the Teamster leadership including IBT president Sean O’Brien were preventing any real investigation of the consequences of this AI technology in the trucks they drive.
The company say that they are using the invisible near-infrared (NIR) light to illuminate the driver’s face, allowing an internal camera to monitor eye closure, gaze, and head position, triggering alerts if signs of drowsiness or distraction are detected.
Eric Johnson spoke to Pacifica’s Steve Zeltzer.

Italian dock workers and hundreds of thousands of workers in Italy organized a general strike on October 3, 2025 to protest Israeli US-supported genocide in Palestine. Jack Heyman, a retired ILWU Local 10 longshore worker joined dockworkers meeting in Genova, Italy to discuss European dockers’ plans to stop the genocide in Gaza by blocking all military cargo from European ports to Israel.
