Thousands of trade unionists came together at the Labor Notes conference last weekend in Chicago. Amazon workers from North Carolina spoke about their struggle for a union and health and safety. They were interviewed by Pacifica’s Steve Zeltzer.

Next, host Thomas O’Rourke spoke recently to Mehmet Bayram – retired IT professional and contributor to Sendika.org, a Turkish language leftist news site. We discussed historical and contemporary Turkish society including working class and minority struggles against reactionary and fascistic Turkish nationalism that emerged from the final disintegration of the old Ottoman empire and the 1923 founding of the Republic of Turkey by General and later President for Life Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. This segment is part one of a longer interview which will be aired on a future program.

Germany suffered an unprecedented diplomatic defeat at the UN General Assembly when it failed to secure a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for the 2027–2028 term. In the June 3rd vote, Berlin received only 104 votes—falling far short of the required two-thirds majority—and was outvoted by Portugal and Austria, which secured the two available Western European seats. German historian Tarek Cyril Amar and host of Syriana Analysis Kevork Almassian discuss.
