Atlanta’s Justice for Johnny Hollman Coalition held a press conference and rally on November 30, at the Fulton County Courthouse, to demand justice for 62-year-old Deacon Johnny Hollman, Sr., who died in August after Officer Kiran Kimbrough tased him repeatedly, while former officer and tow truck driver Eric Robinson restrained him, pressing a knee on his neck for 38 seconds.

Deacon Hollman was returning home from Bible study when he had a minor traffic accident and called 911. When Officer Kimbrough arrived he decided the accident was Hollman’s fault and issued him a traffic citation, which Hollman hesitated to sign, asking to speak to a supervisor. The altercation in which Kimbrough tased and killed Holman while Robinson restrained him ensued. The Fulton County Medical Examiner has ruled Hollman’s death a homicide. Atlanta Police fired Officer Kimbrough in October, and body cam footage of the incident was finally released on Thanksgiving Eve.

Mr. Hollman was a husband, father, grandfather and beloved member of his community.

The Coalition of Organizations are demanding the prosecution of Officer Kiran Kimbrough and the arrest and prosecution of former officer Eric Robinson for the murder of Deacon Johnny Hollman, Sr.

In New York City, union members’ democratic rights are under attack. After the Association of Legal Aid Attorneys, UAW Local 2325 discussed introducing a resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, some members of the union went to Federal Court and obtained a temporary restraining order to stop not only the vote on the resolution but even its distribution to the membership for discussion.

Pacifica’s Steve Zeltzer spoke to UAW 2325 member, legal aid attorney, and WBAI programmer Mimi Rosenberg.

We thank all of Pacifica’s sister stations and affiliates who contribute to the production of this show. This week’s program was produced by the Capitalism, Race, & Democracy collective with contributions from Steve Zeltzer, Ann Garrison, Akua Holt, and your host for this week, Polina Vasiliev.

Thanks for listening.
