The rapid development of AI models and autonomous AI agents is raising growing concerns about safety, accountability, and the potential risks of increasingly powerful systems operating without human oversight.
San Francisco has become a major center of the AI industry. Guido Reichstadter is co-founder of the grassroots organization Stop AI. They are calling on the San Francisco City and County Board of Supervisors to declare a state of emergency over AI and to demand that OpenAI, Anthropic, and other AI companies operating in the city halt development of what he considers dangerous AI models and autonomous agents. Guido Reichstadter spoke to Pacifica’s Steve Zeltzer.
Stop AI activist Derrick Allen also talked about the catastrophic dangers of the AI models and bots that threaten the public and all working people. They also call for the criminal prosecution of AI CEOs who are allowing their autonomous agents into the internet.
